Problems Deleting Emails on iPhone / iPad

Users who manage email on their iPhone or iPad may get problems when they try to delete email on these devices. The image below shows you the error message users get when they have this problem:-

Error message deleting email on iPad

You should be able to resolve this by doing the following on your iPhone/iPad:-

  • Go to Settings
  • Click Mail
  • Click e-mail account
  • Click Advanced
  • Click Deleted Mailbox
  • Tick the Trash box > Please note: You will see 2 sections 'On My iPhone' and 'On The Server'. If you are getting the above error you will probably have a tick against the Trash icon for 'On My iPhone'. You will need to select the Trash folder in the 'On The Server' instead. This should fix the problem.
